documented over 400 weddings since the age of 14. His journey began
when his father, a still photographer and owner of Bell Studio in
Lancaster, invited him to come along to weddings to create video images.
During the early
90s, Bell continued capturing video alongside his father, but
discovered a greater passion for still photography while freelancing
for the Spartanburg
(SC) Herald-Journal newspaper during college.
He worked
full-time at his hometown newspaper, The Lancaster(SC)
News, from 1994-1995 and The
Rock Hill(SC) Herald from 1995-1999. While at The News and The
Herald, he received more than 50 photography awards through the S.C.
News Photographers Association and the S.C.
Press Association.
From February 1999
through November 2000, he served as the photographer for Gov.
Jim Hodges.
He has
photographed the NCAA Final Four,
NFL and NBA
playoffs and the NASCAR Sprint
Cup Series. His work has been seen in LIFE,
ESPN, Sports
Illustrated and Entertainment Weekly
magazines. His images have also appeared on Oprah
